Wooden Foundry Gear Patterns

  • home decor

Description:
In the late 1800s and early 1900s, foundries would enlist a Pattern Maker to create wooden patterns of wheels, gears or other mechanical objects. The patterns would then be placed in sand to create a mold (sand casting) where molten iron would be poured. These wooden gears are a careful reproduction with a hand-worn patina. (The large gear is approximately 23-inches in diameter)

Use:
Whether they're displayed as wall décor or a mantle piece, their an homage to an industrial art form; a conversation piece laced with early Americana. A limited run of these sets were made so colors and variations may vary. Each gear has recessed hooks on the back allowing them to be mounted flush against a wall.
